Researchers can use the most intense microscope in the world, the MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund, to see how atoms bind to each other. Scientists from LiU were first to use the new Balder beamline, investigating new materials with exciting properties. MXenes first saw the light of day as recently as at a laboratory in the US. They have several similarities with another, more widely known material, namely graphene.
